PHILOSOPHY

The YMCA Children’s Academy strengthens families and enhances youth development by offering infants, toddlers, and young children early learning readiness experiences and a comprehensive child development program. Early Learning programming at the Y addresses the holistic development of young children by supporting brain development, early literacy, healthy habits development, and strong parenting skills. Early Learning programming at the Y lays a foundation for future and ongoing achievement and success.

The YMCA Children’s Academy is about the fundamentals of life: trusting, caring, learning, comfort, and safety. Families trust the Y to provide their children with the same things the YMCA has been providing for years, a goal to help every child develop their fullest potential.

The Y Academy curriculum is designed to encourage children to build healthy, happy attitudes and to acquire competencies and skills through play-based experiences and a wide variety of activities. Our goal for all children is to develop a positive self-image, to foster a joy of learning, to expand understanding, and to assist children in forming rewarding social relationships. The classroom activities and experiences will integrate character development and social standards into daily practice.

Our objectives are to provide pruposeful learning through play such as:

  • Developing Creativity
  • Developing Language Skills
  • Developing Communication Skills
  • Building Upon Curiosity
  • Stimulating Cirtical Thinking Skills

Our facility is licensed by the Wisconsin State Department of Children and Families and
with Wisconsin Shares Families.
