Employee of the Month | April
YMCA OF GREATER WAUKESHA COUNTY
THANK YOU FOR GOING THE EXTRA MILE
Thursday, April 1, 2021
Each month, we are proud to recognize YMCA of the Greater Waukesha County employees who have exemplified outstanding service through their work, have demonstrated a positive and supportive attitude, and have served the Y’s mission in an exceptional manner. Read more this month’s staff below.
Group Exercise Instructor & Personal Trainer
Sue has been a dedicated Fitness Department employee for three years. She teaches a variety of Group Exercise classes, is a coach for our Lose it Challenge program, and a is certified Personal Trainer. Sue is reliable, an excellent motivator, builds relationships and connects with others regularly, and is a team player.
If you have attended one of her classes, you know she will keep you moving and challenged the entire time, pushing you based on your fitness level. We love her passion for health and fitness, and are thankful to have her at the Y!
Early Learning & School Age Teacher
Brittany began working at the Southwest Y two years ago as a Before & After School Site Supervisor. She is currently a teacher in our Early Learning Wrap Care program through the School District of New Berlin.
When the Y has been shorthanded, Brittany has stepped up to work 4-5 evenings a week as a Before & After School Site Supervisor and has helped create curriculum for other Early Learning programs. She works hard, shows initiative, and is always willing to step in and help with a positive attitude -- she is in our community and elementary schools more than our Y!
This summer, Brittany will lead our Kinder Camp programming for a third year. Thank you for all you do, Brittany!
TRI COUNTY YMCA
Charlie has been a cycling instructor at the Tri County Y for the last 11 years, and he is well known by our members for teaching a challenging workout on the bikes in the early morning hours.
We can always rely on Charlie to help cover classes for other instructors when needed (even if it means teaching 2 in one day), and he always keeps us on top of our game when it comes to making sure the bikes in our studio are working properly!
Charlie is a retired firefighter who now enjoys riding his bike outside. This summer he plans on taking a trip to Colorado for the Triple Bypass, a 110-mile bike ride in the mountains! When there is snow on the ground you can almost always catch him cross country skiing on trails in the area.
Thanks, Charlie, for being a great team member at the Y!
Abby first joined the Waukesha Aquatics staff team while attending Carroll University. Within her first year, she quickly emerged as a leader and mentor, helping set the tone for our younger staff. She is a creative thinker and has helped implement fun and new and ideas for our swim lesson programming. Have you enjoyed the "Joke of the Day" on the white board in the Lap Pool? That's all Abby!
Abby is not only a valuable lifeguard, but she also works at our Front Desk and greets member with a friendly smile -- hidden under her mask -- and she helps with our Extended Care program.
Thank you for all you do, Abby!
WEST SUBURBAN YMCA
Jon is an extremely valuable member of the West Suburban Aquatics team -- we could not keep our pools open and running without him! Our regular pool patrons know him by name, and he is always there to greet new members with a smile.
As our Aquatics Specialist, not only does Jon ensure our members’ safety while lifeguarding on the pool deck, but makes sure kids are safe in and around the water as a swim instructor. Jon’s passion for learning new techniques and being the best swim instructor he can be is inspiring.
Thank you for your dedication to our Y, Jon!
