Employee of the Month | February
YMCA OF GREATER WAUKESHA COUNTY
THANK YOU FOR GOING THE EXTRA MILE
Monday, February 1, 2021
Each month, we are proud to recognize YMCA of the Greater Waukesha County employees who have exemplified outstanding service through their work, have demonstrated a positive and supportive attitude, and have served the Y’s mission in an exceptional manner. Read more this month’s staff below.
Member Services, Aquatics & Childcare
Sylvia wears a lot of hats at the Mukwonago Y. Not only does she work at the Welcome Center as a Business Services Representative and Greater (welcoming everyone with a smile!), she also works as a Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, Camp Counselor, and Child Watch Attendant, helping shape our youth through positive interactions. Sylvia is honest, dependable, reliable, and always willing to help others.
This is her SECOND time receiving Employee of the Month, and we're so thankful she continues to give her all to the Y!
Ross has worked at the Southwest Y for almost 30 years. In that time, his dedication to the Y has been unmatched. Ross is the Y’s Lead Maintenance Technician, working behind the scenes finding innovative and cost saving ways to keep the facility's machinery up and running, ensuring our members’ experience is enjoyable.
Thank you for your many years of dedicated service to Southwest Y!
TRI COUNTY YMCA
Building Supervisor & Fitness Attendant
Derron joined the Tri County team a year-and-a-half ago, and in that time has supported us as a Fitness Attendant, Greeter, and Building Supervisor. Derron has a talent for putting everyone around him at ease and can strike up great conversation with any member. He is dependable and can be counted on to handle any situation that comes up. We appreciate his professionalism and dedication to his role at the Y!
Building Supervisor & Fitness Attendant
Dave was hired in 1999, but his love for the Y started a decade earlier as a volunteer. During his long tenure, Dave has worked as a Fitness Attendant and Building Supervisor and is well known among staff and members for his attention to detail and knowledge of the building. If there is something broken or a light is out somewhere, Dave knows about it! Let’s talk dedication -- Dave will often work as the Building Supervisor during the 5:00 AM opening shift and return to work the closing shift and stay until 9:00 PM.
Last March when the Y was closed due to the state-wide mandate, Dave was on the team that helped clean and freshen up the building. His adaptable attitude allowed him to paint a studio on one day and be on hands and knees deep cleaning the next!
Dave enjoys riding his bike, cooking, and spending time with family. Before his wife passed, they had the pleasure of taking trips to New Zealand and Australia.
Thank you for your loyalty and dedication to the Waukesha Y, Dave!
WEST SUBURBAN YMCA
Taking care of an older building is no small task. Luckily, for the West Suburban Y, we have Maureen! Maureen works tirelessly to help keep our facility looking bright and shiny. From taking out the garbage to collecting every last crumb on the floor, she is ready and willing to take care of it all.
Maureen also does a wonderful job talking to members and getting to know them. If you see Maureen around the building say “hi” and thank her for the wonderful job she does to keep us safe and clean!
