Celebrate the Season of Giving
We’ve all heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but #GivingTuesday is probably new to most of us. Now entering its sixth year, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday kicks-off the charitable season.
#GivingTuesday connects individuals, communities, and organizations around the world for one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage giving. Each year, millions of people come together for #GivingTuesday to support and champion the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live. Community is important for us here at the YMCA. We believe it's valuable to be involved in your community because you can personally affect change for yourself and those around you.
Social media has the power to bring about change, and why not use it to create positive change? Start using the hashtag #GivingTuesday on your social media accounts to tell your friends and family why the Y is important to you. With #GivingTuesday, we are given a space where we are motivated to bring about change in our communities and demonstrate our common capacity to give. You can give time or expertise, monetary donations large or small or simply share acts of kindness. Every act of generosity counts, and each means even more when we give together.
We are proud to be a part of the global celebration of giving on Tuesday, November 28. Won't you join us?
