Exciting YMCA of Greater Waukesha County News
This morning, the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County announced our plans for a new Association Office and Active Adult Wellness Center, located in New Berlin’s City Center Development. In a lease-to-own agreement, we will purchase the 25,000 square foot building and will owner/occupy 13,000 square feet of space on the first floor of the two-story building at 3610 Michelle Witmer Memorial Drive.
Since becoming the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County over four years ago, our Association has seen significant membership and program growth across our five branches. With this continued growth, the need for dedicated space for our Association staff has become evident. This dedicated space will also allow us to free up much needed office space within our busy branches.
The need for an Association Office provided us with an opportunity to add space, as well as programming and services to strengthen and care for our community, specifically active and aging adults. Our YMCA Board of Directors recognize this as an emerging community need and our new Active Adult Wellness Center – one of the first of its kind for a YMCA in the nation – will exclusively serve a significant and growing market segment. Active and aging adults have always been an important part of our membership, but our new Wellness Center will take our offerings to a whole new level.
The Active Adult Wellness Center will help us better serve our existing members while attracting potential new members, expand staff and community employment opportunities, and create opportunities to develop and deepen partnerships with other health care organizations to deliver a more collaborative and higher level of care to older adults. The new Association Office will include space for up to two dozen employees, conference rooms, and a teaching kitchen that will allow our YMCA to increase nutrition and wellness education offerings.
The Association Office is scheduled to open for staff in April 2019, with the Active Adult Wellness Center slated for a Fall 2019 opening. I am excited for the opportunities the new Association Office and Active Adult Wellness Center will bring to the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County.
