Each month, we are proud to recognize YMCA of Greater Waukesha County employees who have exemplified outstanding service through their work, have demonstrated a positive and supportive attitude, and have served the Y’s mission in an exceptional manner. Read more about this month’s staff below.
Tess is the Mukwonago YMCA's August Employee of the Month! She is an amazing asset to the Mukwonago YMCA and a phenomenal Lifeguard and Coach. Tess is excellent at keeping our pool deck safe and engaging her kids in dance and cheer. She is dependable and always has a smile on her face. We appreciate her and all her hard work. Thank you, Tess!
Kathleen (Kat) Knight has been an employee at the Southwest Y since 2019. She has held multiple positions, but Aquatics is where she has spent most of her time, lifeguarding and supervising the deck. Kat loves working at the Y because she gets to be surrounded by members and staff who are striving to reach their goals as a community. When Kat is not at the Y, you can find her at the beach, concerts, hiking, or relaxing in her hammock. She is currently attending Clemson University and studying Education. Kat has gone above and beyond her position and continues to set a high standard for new and old staff to follow. She is a true gem, and we are very lucky to have her as part of our team.
Emmet chose to work at the Y because his mom had been working Tri County for over 10 years, so he was familiar with many of the people who were here when he started. In addition to working odd jobs, Emmett will be celebrating 7 years of being a Y employee in August! The people are the driving force behind his continued work. Notably, he even met his girlfriend at the Y and has made numerous friends over the years. If you don't see Emmett at the Y, he's probably somewhere practicing one of the 34 instruments he can play!
If we had to describe Monica in one word, it would be irreplaceable. She first came to us as a Livestrong participant in 2017, and since then, she has worked in a variety of positions – leading classes for our Healthy Living Department, serving as a Group Exercise Instructor for Mukwonago, Waukesha, and our college campus contracts, as well as being a Greeter. Her favorite role, however, was becoming a Livestrong Instructor herself. Monica's kindness, warmth, and enthusiasm shine through no matter what role she is fulfilling that day. Whenever you see her in the building, she will always let you know the Brewer's standings (#megafan). She’s always willing to step into any role just to lend a helping hand.
Outside of the Y, you’ll probably find her with her family, catching a Brewers game, or tandem biking with her husband. Having Monica at the Y is like a ray of sunshine every day – she constantly lifts people's spirits and always maintains a positive attitude. We would not be able to carry out our mission without her.
Our August Employee of the Month is Phil. Phil has been a superb employee, working as a Building Supervisor in the evening and a Greeter in the morning. He began working at the West Suburban YMCA in the Fall of 2022 and quickly became a go-to employee. Phil volunteers to help others out when they cannot work their shift and has contributed to the closing process. Additionally, he is a wonderful cook and a dedicated son who can often be found taking care of his mom and cooking in his free time.
If you see Phil behind the desk or walking around the YMCA, make sure to say "Hi" and congratulate him on this accomplishment.
Imagine going to work knowing that what you do positively influences people in our community. Join our team and make an impact! We're hiring passionate people who want to make a difference. All Y employees receive a FREE membership and program discounts.
