Extended Care Teacher
Emma is an amazing presence in our Early Learning programs. She has provided leadership to our Summer Day Camp team and helped our 4K program start this most unusual year with high quality and integrity. Now, she brings that expertise to our Extended Care program in a full time capacity. She is a team player who has proven that she can work in the variety of settings with a variety of people. She is compassionate and caring with the children by provided proper guidance to help them learn and grow across a variety of domains. The children at the Y love Ms. Emma! Keep up the great work, Emma!
Karen has been a lifeguard at the Southwest YMCA since January of 2019, is a U.S. Masters "Adult Learn-to-Swim" certified instructor, and has recently expressed interest in taking on private lessons. Karen is amazing at developing relationships with our members in the pool and discussing all things involving aquatics. She has been our go to when we need coverage in a pinch, and there is never a day where Karen isn't excited to be at our location. Whether it's to work a morning shift, or to swim laps for herself, Karen loves the Y!
TRI COUNTY YMCA
Joanne is our Aquatic Specialist and has been working at the Tri County YMCA since September 1999. Joanne holds a number of titles here at the Y, including Lifeguard, Waterfront Supervisor, Swim Instructor, Water Exercise Instructor, ASHI Safety Instructor, and Business Desk/Greeter.
Not only does Joanne serve our members and program participants, she also shares her expertise by training our lifeguards, swim instructors, and ASHI Safety Instructors.
Joanne does a phenomenal job in whatever role she takes on; she has so much working knowledge of the Tri County Y and the YMCA organization as a whole. We are so lucky to have someone so knowledgeable and dedicated to the Y!
Group Exercise Coordinator
Emily left a job in the “corporate world” and came to the Waukesha Y as a group exercise instructor and Personal Trainer in 2016. Since taking over her first Pilates class, Emily has shown herself to be a valuable member of the Waukesha YMCA staff team! She is a VERY quick study, and is always incredibly willing and able to take on a variety of new challenges.
Emily was one of our first (and current) Personal Trainers to receive a Department of Justice certification to conduct the Physical Readiness Test, pre-qualifying potential candidates entering the police academy. She has worked in almost every department in our building, including working as a Preschool Gymnastics and Dance Instructor and in the Business Office. For our Summer Day Camp and Y TIME Programs, she leads fun, weekly activities for all the kids.
Emily can teach just about anything! She holds current TRX, Mat Pilates, SilverSneakers and Personal Training (National Academy of Sports Medicine, NASM) certifications. During her time at the Y she has taught: Advanced Circuit, Barre & Cardio Barre, Bootcamp, Pilates & Pilates Flow, Women on Weights, AOA Water, Aqua HIIT, Boomer Bootcamp, TRX, TRX Power Circuits, and Aqua Fit. Most recently, she was recently promoted to Group Exercise Coordinator! Feel free to stop by Emily's office down by the Aerobic Room to say "hi"!
