YOUTH SPORTS AT THE Y

  •

Youth Sports
YMCA OF GREATER WAUKESHA COUNTY

WHEN EVERYBODY PLAYS, WE ALL WIN

From playing in an action packed game to learning the fundamentals, we provide an atmosphere where fun, individual development, and building confidence are top priority. Through YMCA Youth Sports programs, your child will improve skills, overcome challenges, be active, and make new friends.

Players learn faster and perform better when they have fun! Y sports feature a "games approach" where kids ages 2-15 learn by playing modified games instead of just repeating drills.  Playing active games keeps participants excited and motivated, which reduces the likelihood of any behavior problems associated with boredom.  The more fun kids have, the longer they stay involved in sports, thus maintaining an active lifestyle.

Sports Goals

Whether it's soccer, basketball or martial arts, Youth Sports foster lifelong passions and teach players the fundamentals, while improving technique and preparing your child for future sport endeavors.

Overall, YMCA sports put an emphasis on healthy relationships, with a goal to build social skills and sport skills for all participants in order to develop a stronger future.

Youth Sports Offerings

Play sports with your favorite teammates!  Sports vary throughout the year, but the goals remain the same: building self-confidence, socializing, sharing, and teamwork. Starting with Parent & Child classes, we cultivate the values, skills, and relationships that lead to positive behaviors.  From there, players will strengthen their basic sports skills and build self-confidence in a fun atmosphere.

We also offer sports clinics designed to work on certain aspects of a game, while teaching individuals drills to work on at home. Students will learn the elements needed to build a strong foundation for various sports.
