YMCA OF GREATER WAUKESHA COUNTY

BEST SUMMER EVER

Right now, as children are being forced to stay home, they are missing out on what every child deserves -- time each day to belong, achieve, and build relationships. This year, children will need the YMCA’s Summer Day Camp more than ever. The Y has every intention of running our various camps this summer to provide a safe place and meaningful experience for children to spend their summer.

Be assured that the Y is planning Summer Day Camp with the utmost concern for the health and safety of our day campers and staff. The Department of Children and Families has been guiding our program plans through this pandemic and will continue to do so throughout the summer. They have put in extensive measures for social distancing, disinfecting, and health and safety procedures that we will continue if needed throughout the summer.

Child safety and well-being are top priorities for the YMCA, especially during drop off and pickup times. To ensure the safety of all participants, campers may only be picked up by a pre-authorized contact. A driver's license may be requested for identification.

LATE DROP-OFF & EARLY PICK-UP

For late drop off or early pick up, please inform your Summer Day Camp office the day prior. Specific drop off and pick up locations for your camp can be found on our website.

*Late drop off & early pick up is not available on field trip days.

WHAT TO BRING TO CAMP

Campers spend most of the day outdoors, so be sure to send your child to camp wearing appropriate clothing and footwear. Sunscreen should be applied before camp and brought to camp as well. Please label your sunscreen with your child’s name.

Every day, campers need to bring a non-perishable lunch, water bottle, tennis shoes or closed-toe shoes, swimsuit and towel, sunscreen, and bug spray in a backpack. All items should be labeled with the child's name.

Please keep all electronics and personal toys at home. The YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Counselor in Training Program (Ages 13-15)

In our Counselor In Training (CIT) Program, teens have the opportunity to shadow and be mentored by our Summer Day Camp counselors and leadership staff. During their time at camp, CITs will develop leadership skills through interactions with counselors and work with counselors to develop lesson plans to lead group games and activities.
