Program Overview
Healthy Habits provides a supportive network to help when the going gets tough and to celebrate successes along the way. Learn how to prepare nutritious meals, move more, improve sleep quality, and reduce stress. There are no gimmicks – just the tools you need to build habits that help you to achieve a healthy lifestyle.
- Must be 18 years or older
- Group discussions facilitated by an instructor
- Structured exercise
YMCA membership is not required to participate in the program.
How the program works
Topics covered during the program include physical activity and the importance of staying active, the role of nutrition and hydration in physical well-being, sleep as a foundation for overall well-being, how to manage and recognize stress, and how to build a social support group.

The 5 Core Habits For Healthy Living
Physical activity
- 150-300 minutes of moderate or 75-150 minutes of vigorous intensity exercise per week
- Strength training 2-3 times per week
Nutrition & Hydration
- Balanced meals
- Paired snacks as needed to delay or alleviate hunger
- Hydration guidelines
Sleep
- Sleep 7-9 hours each night
- Creating an optimal environment
Stess Management
- Raise awareness of sensations of stress in your body
- Daily relaxation techniques
Social Support
- Seek and engage in positive social connections every day
- Building relationships
