Support the Y

The Y is a positive force in our communities and together, we can take on challenges that shape our future. From tackling the achievement gap to teaching healthy habits for a lifetime to giving people the chance to strengthen our communities by giving back.

Every day, our communities face new challenges that create a greater need for the work we do. With our doors open to all, the Y brings together people from all backgrounds and supports those who need us the most. With you we can strengthen our communities.

When you donate to your Y, you are donating for a better us.

Stories of Impact

What is the Y? To many it is a place - a place where the community gathers safely with family and friends or where members work on becoming the person they want to be. Some think of the Y as an organization - a proud leader in the community. Others recognize the Y as a movement - a tireless drive to change lives and to strengthen the communities we serve. But there's more to our story. Every day the spirit of the Y brings us together by the caring, passion, and conviction of those dedicated to our mission. These are the people that make the Y possible, and this is our story….

The Y strengthens the community by bringing families and people together. It is so much more than a gym. At the Y, people become more involved with each other and more aware of what's going on. I've even become more aware of what happening in my neighborhood and taken actions to make sure it's a good place to raise my family. It's empowering to be a part of the Y.

“At the Y, kids have all kinds of amazing things to do. As a family we are more active. I really value and look forward to spending time with my boys at the Y. It has brought us closer together."

- Waukesha YMCA Member

I started coming to the Y about three years ago and have met so many great people that have been such an influence to me. I have done several Lose It Challenges, have lost weight, and finally been able to keep most of it off. My self-esteem grows more and more with each class. I can actually run a mile without stopping. I’ve ran my first 5K, Spartan race, and half marathon this year.

“There is no way I would be where I am today without support staff there pushing and encouraging me."

- Mukwonago YMCA Member

I really like the program's emphasis on sportsmanship while also teaching the fundamental skills needed to play basketball. I also like how the YMCA includes children with special needs in their programs.

Besides really good coaching, one of the things that impressed me was that we had a developmentally disabled child on his team.

“That child was treated no differently, got as much court time as anybody else, and all the kids respected him and where he was at. That's a result of good adult behavior modeling.”

My son learned to work with people who are differently able. This whole team was racially, ethnically, socially diverse. The program build his confidence, self-esteem, control, agility, and listening skills.
