At the Y, our sports staff, coaches, and volunteers share a singular vision of helping all youth reach their full potential in life. We leverage the excitement and passion around recreational and competitive programming to create a healthy outlet for players to gain new skills, develop a sense of team, and connect with positive role models. 

All of our leagues emphasize teamwork, fair play, self-confidence, and fun.  Staff and volunteers coach our teams in skill improvement, while leading them in character development using the YMCA’s core values.  Check out our sports league offerings and get in the game!

Whether it's soccer, basketball or volleyball, Youth Sports foster lifelong passions and teach players the fundamentals, while improving technique and preparing your child for future sport endeavors.  

Overall, YMCA sports put an emphasis on healthy relationships, with a goal to build social skills and sport skills for all participants in order to develop a stronger future.

 



Youth Sports Leagues

Our youth sports leagues offer equal play time for every player and promote sportsmanship and teamwork. In every league, Y instructors and trained volunteer coaches help each athlete reach their highest potential through interactive drills, teamwork, skill refinement, and game play.

  Preschool Sports Leagues (Ages 4-6)

Leagues vary by location and may not be available at all branches.

YOUTH BASKETBALL LEAGUE

Our convenient format of 30 minute practices followed by 30 minute games will give young basketball players a chance to learn and play on the same day. Practices include sport-specific drills to help children develop motor skills and improve coordination. All athletes receive a team jersey.


YOUTH FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Co-ed league that meets weekly for 45-minute practices and 45-minute games.  From building stronger skills to gaining self-confidence, flag football at the Y is about more than just the game, it is about building the whole child, from the inside out. Practices include sport-specific drills to help kids develop motor skills and improve coordination. All athletes receive a team jersey.


YOUTH SOCCER LEAGUE

Experience the Y’s soccer league, where every player receives equal play time. Through positive coaching, our young athletes build and refine skills each week during 30-minute practices and 30-minute games.  Practices include sport-specific drills to help children develop motor skills and improve coordination. Shin guards recommended.  All athletes receive a team jersey.


YOUTH T-BALL LEAGUE

Meet once a week for 30-minute practices and 30-minute games.  Practices include sport-specific drills to help children develop motor skills and improve coordination. All athletes receive a team jersey.

GIRLS YOUTH VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE

We'll serve up plenty of fun during weekly 45-minute practices and 45-minute games.  Practices include sport-specific drills to help players develop motor skills and improve coordination.  All athletes receive a team jersey.

YOUTH CROSS COUNTRY

Go the distance!  Cross-Country is ideal for youth who enjoy running, want to explore the outdoors, and hope to improve their running abilities.  Our group will have the opportunity to run in scheduled meets with other local YMCAs.  All athletes receive a team jersey.

Practices include sport-specific drills to help kids develop motor skills and improve coordination. Shin guards recommended.  All athletes receive a team jersey.

Play ball!  Join us each week for 45-minute practices and 45-minute games.  Practices include sport-specific drills to help players develop motor skills and improve coordination. All athletes receive a team jersey.


YOUTH TRACK & FIELD

Practice as a team throughout the season and compete against teams from surrounding YMCAs at our Regional Track Meet.  At the Regional and Final Track Meets, girls and boys divisions will be based on age.  Each participant can sign up for three total events at the meet. Running events include 50M dash, 100M dash, 200M dash, and 400M dash. Field events include 50M hurdles, long jump, and softball throw.  All athletes receive a team jersey.

  Land O'Leagues (Ages 8-18)

The Land O' Leagues (LOL) program has a longstanding tradition of providing youth a chance to enjoy America's passtime all summer long. Our goal is provide affordable, recreational baseball and softball opportunities to youth ages 8-18 in the greater Waukesha County area. Under the supervision of the Waukesha YMCA and the Commission, LOL emphasizes participation, character development, good sportsmanship, instruction, and most importantly...fun!
