We believe that generosity has the power to unite and heal communities in good times and bad. A global threat like COVID-19 touches every person on the planet, and it presents an opportunity to come together as a global community.
#GivingTuesdayNow is a new global day of giving and unity that takes place on May 5, 2020 – in addition to the regularly scheduled Dec 1, 2020 #GivingTuesday – as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.
#GivingTuesdayNow is about giving of all types -- some may choose to give a financial contribution to their favorite cause or a fundraising drive, others will opt to reach out to neighbors, donate goods or extra supplies, and share gratitude to frontline workers and those keeping us safe. If you can show generosity and share kindness, you have something to give! You can join in this global movement for unity and giving back in a variety of ways:
The Y brings people together from all backgrounds, circumstances, and ages, and creates personal connections that change lives through membership and programming.
When you give to the YMCA’s Annual Campaign, you make it possible for children, families, and adults to have access to Y programs vital to their personal growth and well-being. Now, more than ever, we need your charitable donations to help make that happen. When you donate to your Y, you are donating for a better us.

Get out your chalk and get creative! While maintaining a social distance, write love notes to your town on your sidewalk and post your masterpiece using #GivingTuesdayNow. Or deliver chalk to neighborhoods with a note.
Thank our first responders, say hello to your neighbors, write a quote or a friendly message for those on their daily walks. The sidewalks of your community will be lined with all the love!
Seniors, veterans, and many others are on lockdown and isolated in their rooms or at home. They could use some encouraging messages of hope from young people. Record a video of yourself or family and send it to someone that could use it.
Looking for more ideas? Make-A-Wish is requesting messages of hope to share with children who are waiting for their wish to come true. See how you can participate below!
Have you seen John Krasinki’s Some Good News broadcast? There’s nothing we need more right now, than some good news. Do you have good news to share? Video yourself sharing some good news and post it on social or send to friends and family. It will help to share some light during this dark time.

Follow GTKids lead and help those who may be ill, elderly, or immuno-compromised in your neighborhood with yard work or other chores. Make a flier and leave it on door steps offering to do yard work for your neighbors. If they are interested, they can put the flier back on their door, with a note detailing what they need help with.
