ACTIVE & AGELESS

Age is just a number!  It is never too late to start exercising. Active Older Adults (AOA) at the YMCA experience a strong sense of belonging and create a network of friends who provide support for sustained health and well-being.

Through on-going, fun, safe, and engaging programs, AOA members build relationships and increase their self-confidence while celebrating the successes of each adult within their community. All older adults and seniors benefit from engaging in Y activities that enhance connections and decrease a sense of isolation.

An exercise class designed for those 50+ to help build cardio endurance strength, bone density and balance.


AOA AEROBICS | LEVEL 2-3

Low impact, medium intensity, standing aerobic workout addresses multiple components of fitness.


BOOMER BOOT CAMP | LEVEL 3

Regular boot camp classes too intense for you? We have an alternative low impact fitness class designed to challenge the body to maintain independence and function.  Ideal for ages 50+ or for those interested
in a more moderate workout. Training areas: cardio, balance, strength, and agility.  Challenging but safe activities addressing a variety of abilities in a fun and social atmosphere.


CARDIO SCULPT | LEVEL 2-3

A low to medium impact class that includes cardio, strength training, balance, flexibility, and core work. Equipment may include resistance bands or free weights and body weight exercises are often used to increase functional strength.


CYCLING FOR SENIORS | LEVEL 2-3

Taught as a lower intensity geared towards seniors and active older adults.


LINE DANCING | ALL LEVELS

A fun beginner to intermediate class that will enhance your balance and coordination while making new friends. A variety of music will be featured.


SENIOR STRETCH & STRENGTH | LEVEL 2

Use a variety of equipment to increase range of motion, strength, flexibility, and balance.  Excellent for those looking for a more advanced workout.


TAI CHI FUNDAMENTALS | ALL LEVELS

Tai Chi Fundamentals is an adaptable and accessible program suitable for individuals with a wide range of abilities. Class allows participants to learn tai chi in standing with optional side support, or standing with a walker, or in a seated position. Participants will learn tai chi basic moves, a Yang Style tai chi short form, and develop mind/body skills training.


ZUMBA® GOLD |  LEVEL 2-3

All the fun of Zumba® but taught at a slower pace and lower impact level. Suitable for beginners and active older adults.

AOA WATER EXERCISE | LEVEL 2

Low impact aerobic conditioning and toning to enhance range of motion and flexibility.


AOA WATER VOLLEYBALL | ALL LEVELS

Participants follow the general rules of volleyball in the pool. Recreational play.


ADULT NOON PLUNGE | ALL LEVELS

Exercise on your own to music. Water walk or use equipment such as noodles or barbells.


AQUA ZUMBA® | ALL LEVELS

A safe, challenging, Latin dance based workout that incorporates cardio conditioning and body toning in the shallow
water. Exercises are medium impact and great for beginners or intermediate exercisers.


DEEP WATER EXERCISE | LEVEL 2-3

Put on a flotation belt and head to the deep end of the pool for a powerful workout that will improve your posture, strength and cardiovascular endurance. This non-impact exercise is a perfect alternative for individuals with knee or back problems or those looking for a break from running or high impact activities.


GENTLE WATER EXERCISE | LEVEL 1

A low level of resistance to improve muscular strength, endurance and maintain or improve flexibility. Ideal for those with MS, fibromyalgia, arthritis or other special needs.


JOINT EFFORTS | LEVEL 1

The Y is proud to offer this low impact exercise program designed for people with arthritis, fibromyalgia, MS and related conditions. The water provides gentle resistance to build muscle strength and support joints to encourage free movement.  Participants should be comfortable in the water but do not need to have swimming skills. Please check with your physician before beginning this program.

WATER TAI CHI | ALL LEVELS

Water fitness with the slow, powerful exercises of Tai Chi.


WATER WALKING | ALL LEVELS

Workout on your own to music. Variety of equipment available for your use.

  Parkinson's Classes
PARKINSON'S DANCE CLASS

The class brings the art of dance to people living with Parkinson's disease. Class format includes warming up using a chair, center and balance work, standing and moving across the floor while incorporating dance steps from different dance forms. Dancing is shown to help people with PD improve their ability to walk and enhances their quality of life.

PARKINSON'S FITNESS

An exercise group geared towards individuals with Parkinson's Disease (PD). These exercise sessions are designed and led by a physical therapist who has experience working with individuals with PD.

Available at the Waukesha YMCA. Please call Robyn Pearce at 262-409-2967 for more information.

Monthly fee: $45/Member, $60/Program Participant.



SilverSneakers® Fitness

The SilverSneakers® classes offer multi-level equipment based strength and conditioning exercises designed for Medicare-eligible individuals. The classes are easy on your joints and appropriate for individuals who exercise regularly as well as those new to exercise or who may not have exercised in years. The exercises are designed to improve your strength, flexibility, and the ability to perform functional activities such as getting out of your car or lifting your grandchildren. 

The target market for SilverSneakers® is primarily adults 65 and older with activity levels ranging from active to semi-sedentary. You do not need to be a SilverSneakers® member to take these classes. All SilverSneakers® programs are free for members.  To learn more, visit silversneakers.com.

SILVERSNEAKERS® CIRCUIT | LEVEL 3

Advanced class for those desiring a cardio workout. Standing, low-impact aerobic activity to increase cardiovascular and muscular endurance alternated with standing upper body strength work with hand-held weights, tubing, and
SilverSneakers® ball.


SILVERSNEAKERS® CLASSIC | LEVEL 1-2

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a SilverSneakers® ball are offered for resistance; a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.


SILVERSNEAKERS® YOGA | ALL LEVELS

Move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses.  Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance, and range of movement.  Restorative breathing exercises and a final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity.

  SilverSneakers® Water-Based Classes (Ages 65 & up)
SILVERSNEAKERS® SPLASH | LEVEL 2-3

Activate your aqua exercise urge for variety! This class offers lots of fun and shallow water moves to improve agility, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance. No swimming ability is required, and a special SilverSneakers® kickboard is used to develop strength, balance, and coordination.
