Well-being and fitness at the Y goes beyond just working out -- we provide educational programs to promote healthy lifestyles and offer a variety of programs that support physical, intellectual, and spiritual strength.

World Cancer Day is an initiative which unites the world each year on February 4 to raise the profile of cancer in a positive and inspiring way. For 2018, World Cancer Day is using the tagline “We can. I can.” in order to show how everyone can do their part to reduce the global burden of cancer.
At the Y, we are doing our part by offering LIVESTRONG at the YMCA -- a free, physical activity and well-being program designed to support cancer survivors as they reclaim their health. During the 12-week program, survivors work with trained Y staff to safely achieve their goals such as building muscle mass and strength; increasing flexibility and endurance; and improving confidence and self-esteem. By focusing on the whole person and not the disease, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is helping people move beyond cancer in spirit, mind, and body.
On top of the physical and emotional effects of cancer, the financial impact of cancer on survivors can be devastating. We offer LIVESTRONG at the YMCA at no cost, which allows us to support participants physically, mentally, and financially.
Just as cancer affects everyone in different ways, people have the power to take a variety of actions to reduce cancer's impact on individuals, families, and communities. If you or a loved one has been affected by cancer, give us a call to learn how LIVESTRONG at the YMCA can help survivors on their journey toward improved health and well-being.
“The LIVESTRONG program has given me the confidence to restart an exercise program and get strong after my breast cancer treatment. I’ve made some great friendships and learned a lot about myself. Sharing stories and laughter was healing and refreshing. I feel strong, healthier, and more positive. Thank you YMCA and LIVESTRONG.” -Lori, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA Graduate
