Camp is a home away from home where kids laugh, learn, explore, and grow in the outdoors, while creating memories and friendships that last a lifetime. Our campers are able to explore creativity, teamwork, and leadership in a wide range of physically active programs. Centered in an outdoor environment, campers learn to appreciate and embrace nature. Our Summer Day Camp builds an interest in community with experiences in local and global cultures where campers gain an appreciation for others different from themselves. Each week we feature different and exciting camps that focus on fostering friendship, achievement, and belonging.

Extended Care is a free service and is available 7:00–9:00 AM and 4:00–6:00 PM every day at the West Suburban YMCA.

Camper Drop Off & Pick Up

Drop off and pick up will be located behind the Y in the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church parking lot, off of 120th Street and North Avenue.

Traditional day campers will try a variety of activities such as arts & crafts, swimming, group games, team building, and small & large group activities. Week 1: June 12-16
Join us as we get started with the fun things planned for the summer of 2017. We’ll be doing all things camp: reconnecting with old friends and making tons of new friends. Each day will be filled with games, activities, super silly events, and so much more.


GLOBETROTTERS

Week 2: June 19-23
Pack your bags and grab your passport to learn more about new cultures through games, music, food, and crafts.


OOEY GOOEY FUN

Week 3: June 26-30
If “messy” is your middle name, then this week is made just for you! Crazy challenges, wacky games, and icky, sticky stuff that you create. Come dressed and prepared to have a blast while getting dirty.


PARTY IN THE USA

Week 4: July 3-7 (No Camp on Tuesday, July 4, 2017)
Campers will celebrate the good ol’ US of A this week at the Y! This short week will be filled with star-spangled activities to celebrate our country and those who help keep us safe! *No camp on Tuesday, July 4, 2017.


EVERY DAY'S A HOLIDAY

Week 5: July 10-14
Whoever said that we can only celebrate a holiday one day a year? Join us as we learn about and celebrate various American holidays and holidays from around the world! Be ready for an egg hunt, costume party, and a lot more fun in the sun.


ZOOFARI WEEK

Week 6: July 17-21
All of your favorite exotic zoo animal friends will be along for the ride on our exciting ‘zoo’fari! We will be exploring the wonderful world of zoo animals through our crafts and activities this week. If you love a trip to the zoo, this is the week for you! 


SPACE IS THE PLACE

Week 7: July 24-28
To infinity and beyond as we search for the kid from Mars, discover Martian rocks, create a space craft, go on an alien hunt, and practice some Jedi training through obstacles.


PAY IT FORWARD

Week 8: July 31-August 4
Learn how to give back. Campers will get to know their community as they work on projects to help make our communities a safer, cleaner place to have fun.


MYSTERIES, MAPS & RIDDLES

Week 9: August 7-11
Can you figure it out? What’s that? Who did it? Where are we? Become a detective, discover new places, and have fun with friends while trying to unravel the mysteries of camp.

What can’t we build with? We’ll use Legos, wood, blocks, sticks and stones, newspaper, cardboard, and whatever else we might find. We may even take things apart just to rebuild them, or to use the parts to build something new.


LAND OF LOST

Have a diggin’ good time as we discover our prehistoric past.


INTRO TO DANCE

Week 4: July 3-7 (No Camp on July 4)
Jump, run, leap, skip, and learn to march to the rhythm of the music, as each camper makes up their own movements with guidance. *No camp on Tuesday, July 4, 2017.

Be your favorite superhero, develop your own superhero, and meet every day heroes in our community.

Time to create your masterpiece! We will explore a variety of fine arts mediums including the artistic use of paints, pencil sketching, and more.

BOWLING

Week 8:  July 31-August 4

Practice your splits, spares, and strikes! Take trips to the local bowling alleys and learn bowling techniques. We will also have silly competitions. Additional field trips this week.

Who’s ready to build castles, life-size games, forts, and so much more? Join us for Cardboard Creations and have your imagination come to life! The opportunities are endless!

CHEER

Week 1:  June 12-16

We love camp yes we do, we love camp how about you! Join us for a high-spirited week of cheer camp! Cheerleaders will be able to practice their stunts, gymnastics skills, and create choreography to show off to our campers! Join us at the end of the week for a spectacular routine filled with cartwheels and cheers!

DANCE

Week 3:  June 26-30

5, 6, 7, 8! Get your boogie shoes on and show us what you got! Get ready to learn different dance styles such as ballet, jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop. Dancers will be able to practice these different styles of dance and will showcase their new dancing abilities at the end of the week.

DIY

Week 5:  July 10-14

Join us for a week of Do-It-Yourself projects that are easy enough to do at home! Get ready to make blankets, pottery, picture frames, jewelry, and so much more! This is the time to do all of those projects you always wanted to do!

FARM TO TABLE

Week 9:  August 7-11

Do you ever wonder where our food comes from? Come with us to local farms, farmers markets, stores, and gardens, and think about where our food comes from and how we can make healthy choices when eating. Campers will be able to take their knowledge about healthy eating and create healthy meals that can also be made at home. Bon appétit!

FISHING CAMP
Ages 8 & Older

Week 5:  July 10-14

Reel ‘em in! Come fishing with us on local lakes, rivers, and ponds, and discover the world of fishing. Join us and the Wisconsin DNR and learn how to properly cast, bait, reel, and so much more!
*Campers are required to bring their own fishing pole. Additional field trips this week. Weather Permitting – No Refunds.

FORCE CAMP

Week 4:  July 3-7 (No Camp on July 4)

The Force can be strong with you! Campers will begin the week as Padawans who are preparing to begin their Jedi training. Throughout the week, Padawans are challenged through daily Star Wars activities and training missions. Campers will eventually graduate to become true Jedi Masters.

GOLF

Week 6:  July 17-21

Fore! Your camper will be shooting par in no time as they practice their swings and short game on the range. They will also learn more about the history, etiquette, and rules about the fascinating world of golf!

IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Week 2:  June 19-23

Lights! Camera! Action! Calling all camp actors to the stage. Campers will learn to tell a story through acting and stage play production. Join us at the end of the week with a performance by our talented actors!

LEGO

Week 1:  June 12-16

For campers who love to build with Legos, this educational camp takes physical science and technology concepts and applies them in a fun and creative way. Campers learn about forces and motion, simple machines, measurement, energy, and more!

LEMONADE STAND

Week 7:  July 324-28

Spend the week with us and get a glimpse into what it takes to run a successful business. Start with company structuring by assigning jobs, responsibilities, and titles. Then test your product in the test kitchen with a randomly selected panel. Finally, take your product to the public and sell as much lemonade as you can. All proceeds benefit youth programs.

MAD SCIENCE

Week 10:  August 14-18

Get ready to mix up some fun with science this summer! Campers will study and experiment with the environment, weather, physics, astronomy, bugs, and wildlife. The possibilities are endless at Mad Science Camp.

MISSION CONTROL
Week 9:  August 7-11

3, 2, 1…BLAST OFF! Join us for a fun week filled with exploration of our solar system, NASA, and space exploration. Campers will let their imaginations soar while learning about the planets, stars, and the moon. They will also build and name their very own spaceships to carry them to the moon and beyond!

OUTDOOR SURVIVAL CAMP
Ages 8 & Older

Week 2:  June 19-23
Week 7:  July 24-28

Can you survive in the wild with just the supplies in your backpack? After a week with us you can. Campers will learn survival skills including making a fire, building emergency shelters, and identifying wild edibles. Campers will also learn new skills such as hiking, navigation, archery, and much more. This camp includes additional field trips to local parks.

PIONEER ADVENTURE

Week 8:  July 31-August 4

Take on the wild frontier and learn what it was like to be a pioneer conquering the Wild West. Campers churn their own butter, create their own candles, build log cabins, and more! This camp includes an additional field trip to a Wisconsin Historic Site.

SECRET AGENT

Week 3:  June 26-30

Get ready for a harrowing spy adventure! Agents in training must follow clues and connect the dots before it’s too late! Campers must work together to crack codes, travel stealthily, and catch villains.

Week 11:  August 21-25

Do you love reading Marvel and DC comics, trading Pokémon cards, playing Magic, and battling Beyblades? Do you consider yourself a Trekkie, Ringer, Potterhead, or Star Warian? Then this camp is meant for you. Join us all week as we embrace our love for all these things and more.

YMCA’S NEXT TOP CHEF

Week 6:  July 17-21

No more mac ’n cheese and frozen pizzas. Our chefs will learn the basics of cooking, how to run a restaurant, create a recipe binder, and end the week with a camp wide cooking competition.

Y WARRIORS

Week 10:  August 14-18

This camp changes the way kids feel about exercise and fitness. Each day will consist of a cardio activity, strength training, and a healthy snack. Staff will introduce campers to a variety of different fitness activities.

These campers are here to swing for the fences! Learn the fundamentals of baseball and important team concepts. Practice base running, batting, and pitching.


BASKETBALL

Week 6:  July 17-21
Week 11:  August 21-25

This week is full of stations, practices, games, and tournaments to learn basketball fundamentals. This camp will help you perfect your skills at all levels of the game in a fun, non-competitive atmosphere. After this week, your camper will be saying, “Nothing but net!”
DISC & FOOT GAMES

Week 4:  July 3-7 (No Camp on July 4)

Does your camper love all sports? This week is full of unique sports from disc golf, ultimate Frisbee, foot golf, kickball, and more. Your camper will practice basic athletic skills like throwing and kicking that translate into many sports.


DODGEBALL

Week 10:  August 14-18

Warm up those arms while playing different variations of both team dodgeball and solo play. It’s a week full of dodgeball!


FOOTBALL

Week 2:  June 19-23
Week 9:  August 7-11

Are you ready for some football? Learn skills on both sides of the ball, including passing, catching, and defensive positioning all in a positive environment.


SOCCER

Week 1:  June 12-16
Week 8:  July 31-August 4

Enjoy soccer skills, games, competitions, and most of all, teamwork. Soccer cleats and shin guards encouraged.


VOLLEYBALL

Week 5:  July 10-14

Your athlete will really “dig” this camp. Learn every aspect of the volleyball from setting to spiking. Campers will play fun games and compete in matches against each other.
